An awful storm has washed onto a lonely beach, thousands of starfish. A tearful young girl sees the scene of desolation and walks slowly towards the starfish.
As she walks across the beach, tentatively at first, but with growing conviction, she picks up some of the starfish and throws them back into the sea.The watching dog walkers view her mission with wry amusement.
After a while, a man approaches the girl and says, “Why are you doing this? Look at this beach! You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!”
The girl seems momentarily crushed, deflated and defeated. But after a few moments, she resolutely bends down, picks up another starfish, and hurls it as far as she can into the ocean.
Then she looks up at the man and replies,
“Well, I made a difference for that one, didn't I ? ”
At Unitarian Transformers CIC, we envision a world where everyone has access to sustainable and eco-friendly products. We believe that small changes can make a big impact, and we are committed to making those changes accessible to everyone.
At Unitarian Transformers CIC, we value sustainability, ethics, and community. We believe in treating our customers, employees, and suppliers with respect and fairness. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices in all aspects of our business.
We offer a wide selection of sustainable and eco-friendly products, including reusable straws, beeswax wraps, and bamboo toothbrushes. All of our products are carefully selected for their sustainability and ethical production practices.
Unitarian Transformers is a social enterprise dedicated to supporting both the girl and the starfish!
It has been growing for a number of years as an initiative led by Malvern Unitarians that engages young people in a growing social awareness and engagement.
We seek to expand our reach and scope, by investing effort and resources in communities across the UK. We will invest both pump priming resources and later emerging profits, to supporting initiatives in the areas of wellness, well-being, ecology, and citizenship.
Unitarian Transformers is actively Unitarian in purpose and ambition. We seek to reach out to carry the Unitarian mission and ethos beyond the walls of our chapels and churches.
In essence, it is our mission to “nurture butterflies” birthing and nurturing multiple seemingly small projects and initiatives, which, when taken together, have far greater impacts than could ever be delivered if established in isolation.
We seek to spark the imagination, nurture the ideas, and support the delivery of a self-sustaining and growing portfolio of original projects that speak powerfully to the Unitarian ethos.
Unitarian Transformers will invest in any UK community seeking to demonstrate a commitment to community development. We will support and nurture initiatives that seek to inspire sustainable and community focused actions, inspiring individuals, communities, and organisations to be the best and most useful they can be.
Our mission seeks to pay forward. Forward in time for our future planet and future citizens. Forward into the communities that surround everyone of us.
By focusing on the Core Values, Unitarian Transformers will deliver a radical and powerful programme, born from within local communities and focused on empowerment, physical and emotional well- being and ecological leadership.
We do not seek to limit applications for inclusion within the Unitarian Transformers Programme, we are not territorial; however, we seek to invest in Transformational work that reflect the values and spiritual ideals that underpin the unitarian community. As well as seeking to empower at a community level, we also seek to grow local engagement within our Unitarian Communities.

One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?” The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”
